Mazda has been teasing the release of the new, completely redesigned Mazda 6, for months and now it has finally made its release at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show. The new generation of the Mazda 6 is set to go on sale at Mazda Dealers in AZ, by the end of the year.

The Mazda 6 is the second model debuted by Mazda to encompass the new “KODO- Soul of Motion” design and Skyactiv technology. The new concepts by Mazda reveal a more sporty flare while still exuding dignity, the interior has received much higher quality materials, and the overall design has been upgraded.

“The new Mazda 6 has a universal appeal,” says Phoenix Mazda sales manager David Hupart. “Mazda has created a beautiful design that only heightens the cars driving experience and that is something any driver can appreciate.”

Mazda only announced details for two engines for the new Mazda 6, but additional options are expected to be released. The two gasoline versions include a Skyactiv-G 2.0 and a Skyactiv-G 2.5. The 2.0 version delivers 148 horsepower, while the second one comes in with 189 horsepower. Both engines have the start/stop technology, while the most powerful version will also get the i-ELOOP regenerative braking system. Both are explained visually in the video released by Mazda.

The Skyactiv chassis front strut and rear multi-link suspension systems deliver high driving performance, in the low to mid speeds, and higher stability once the car hits higher speeds. There is an electric power assist steering system that offers precise control and enhances straight-ahead stability and prevents “pulling” on a rough road system. The braking system has optimized brake boosters that allow efficient, precise, and guaranteed braking. The optimized under-floor design improves aerodynamic performance; this ultimately results in high-speed stability as well as an improvement in fuel efficiency.

The new Mazda 6 has the first Mazda mass produced LED headlights and halo ring light guides and up front offers a new signature wing grille. The hood continues this wing design and flows seamlessly into the body. The teaser shown depicts the Mazda 6 in a new exterior paint color called “Soul Red”, which was developed to balance depth and shading to accentuate the cars form.

As for the interior, Mazda has taken steps to continually increase the comfort level in all their new vehicles. They have not only incorporated new driver-oriented cockpits that offer ample space and higher quality materials, but also engineered a quieter cabin. An adjustable front seat combined with the adjustable tilt and telescopic steering wheel enable precise adjustments and a unique driving experience. There are an array of intuitive controls and functions on the center display. Trip management information is displayed on a 3.5-inch multi-information display and navigation information is shown on a 5-inch display located in the center panel. By separating the two Mazda has enhanced display, readability, and operability. The backseat area size has been increased for more space and is now one of the best in the segment.
