Consumers Can Now Get More Bang for Buck

As if the little Mazda 3 four and five door sedans weren’t popular enough before, Mazda recently announced new packages for the 2016 models that actually lower the price. Mazda Mobile Start Offers Phone Access

Now available in North America, Mazda Mobile Start gives smartphone users the capability to start and stop their Mazda engine from virtually anywhere. Seen as advantage in both cold and hot weather climates, this means you can start the car from inside your home or office and let it heat up or cool down as necessary before driving away. The use of the mobile start app means you won’t have to leave your keys in your car, thwarting a common cause of theft. The vehicle will automatically shut off if the door is opened for safety and security.

Must Be Installed at Mazda Dealership

With a suggested retail price of $500, the Mazda Mobile Start must be installed at your Phoenix Mazda dealership, Chapman Mazda. Once the hardware is installed in the vehicle, you just need to download the app that allows you to not only start and stop the car, but also lock and unlock the doors, use GPS to find your car, and even operate the panic alarm all from the convenience of your phone. The app is compatible with most Apple and Android smartphones, but Chapman Mazda can provide a complete list.

App Has Time Limit and Timer

In case you forget that your car is running, the app has an automatic shut-off feature after 30 minutes. It also has a timer to let you know exactly how long your car has been running. “Mazda Mobile Start comes with more than just the features and functions of the app; it also comes with peace of mind,” said Mazda accessories manager Trisha Quezada. “Mazda Mobile Start was created with convenience and safety in mind to enhance the overall driving experience that matters so much to our customers.” The app will let you know if your commands were executed or not. If the vehicle is parked in an enclosed structure, such as an underground garage, the signal may not reach the control center.

First Year of Service is Complimentary

As part of the retail price, the first year of service from the Mazda app is free, but then costs $65 each additional year. Although it is only compatible with the 2016 Mazda 6 and CX-5 right now, more models will be added later this year. The device is covered by the new vehicle limited warranty. For more information, you can go to Mazda Mobile Start on the web, or talk to the pros at Chapman Mazda.

Car and Driver Loves the Little Mazda’s Manners

When noted consumer auto publication Car and Driver decided to rank the best and worst compact crossover SUVs, it had a monumental task at hand. There were 33 vehicles to choose from, and based on sheer driving pleasure, a great suspension system and recent improvements to the interior and technology, the editors chose the 2015 Mazda CX-5 as king of the hill. The CX-5 underwent a mild refresh for 2016, mostly focusing on the interior. Mazda chose a higher quality material for trim finish, made the arm rests a little more comfortable and added some padding where humans interact with hard surfaces. The new CX-5 will be coming soon to Chapman Mazda.

Little SUV has Handling of Sport Sedan

Now with a few more horsepower to make it more competitive with other entrants in the compact SUV market, the CX-5 offers a nice firm ride with very little sway or body roll when going around tight corners. Electrically boosted power steering lets you feel the road without having to flex your biceps to go around a corner. The 184-horsepower engine still takes almost eight seconds to get to 60 mph, but the vehicle handles so well you almost don’t mind a little buildup to the big crescendo of merging onto the freeway.

New Safety Features Help Avoid Collisions

Along with the quality of materials and improving the handling a bit, Mazda concentrated on implementing new safety technology into the 2016 Mazda CX-5. Adaptive cruise control pays attention to the vehicle in front of you, slowing you down when necessary if you’re not paying attention. Lane-departure warning comes in handy on those long road trips when the white lines start to meld together. Automatic high beam control knows when to dim the lights, while collision-mitigating braking relies on sensors to find obstacles you can’t see and help you avoid them. See all the new safety features when the CX-5 comes to Chapman Mazda.

Every Mazda Has to Pay Its Way

Mazda only makes smaller vehicles for the everyday man and woman to utilize as commuter vehicles or take the kids to school. Unlike other companies, it has no $50-$60,000 trucks in its inventory to build up its profit line. What that means is the company has to go just a little bit farther to make sure each vehicle can provide the quality and driving enjoyment to make it a financial success. Car and Driver thinks the Mazda CX-5 has gone above and beyond by naming it the best compact crossover SUV on the planet.

Are the rumors true that Mazda will release the 2017 Mazda RX-9 sport coupe before 2017? This proposed successor to the Mazda RX-8 early release is only rumor so far. What is giving the rumors legs is the fact that 2017 will be the 50th anniversary of the rotary engine and what better way to celebrate 50 years than with the brand new 2017 RX-9?

The new RX-9 will reportedly be 180 pounds lighter than its replacement the RX-8, weighing in at 2,822 lbs. The weight loss is due to the use of lighter weight material such as carbon fiber, it being built on the Miata platform and the introduction of Mazda’s Skyactiv technology. The designers will stay with 2 doors for the new RX-9. There will be smoother lines on the chassis which will enhance the sport coupe’s aerodynamics. These combined changes will also improve fuel economy. The air intakes will have a smiling open-mouth shape and the headlights will be sharper. There hasn’t been any detail info on the interior to date. Our best guess is that it will be made from modern high quality materials and will have the expected latest electrical technology and features. Will there be a back seat? No one seems to know for sure yet.

It is reported that the biggest change for the 2017 Mazda RX-9 will occur under the hood. It will get a more powerful engine but it will also have improved fuel economy. The exceptional 1.6 liter 16X engine with the new twin rotor unit will output more than 450 hp (335 kW).

The 16X, also known as the RENESIS, boosts the first-generation Wankel 13B engine by providing genuine direct injection, greater torque, and greater displacement compared to before.

The transmission info is sketchy at this stage for the new sports coupe. The two-stage turbo engine will have an electric boost at low rpm produced by the rotary engine, while the turbines come on-stream as the revs increase.

There has been no official announcement as to when the new 2017 Mazda RX-9 will be in showrooms and at dealerships like Chapman Mazda, but it is assumed sometime before 2017. No pricing details have been made available yet.

When the Miata came out 26 years ago, no one knew what it was.

It is difficult to remember the car world, pre-Miata (PM), given its tremendous success over the last century. The Mazda Miata MX-5 completely redefined the affordable sports car by providing a lightweight car with lightning fast responses and was a great deal of fun to drive.

Enduring for 26 years as a sports car with low volume was quite the accomplishment. There have been many outstanding Miatas that have been produced over the years and have been available at Chapman Mazda. Here is our selection of the Best Mazda MX-5 Miata’s throughout its great history.

1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The list would not be complete without the model that got it all started. Weighing just over 2,000 pounds, the MX-5 Miata two seater roadster burst onto the scene in 1990. The 1.6 liter engine only output 116 horsepower, but the chassis design squeezed every last horsepower out of it.

1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata R Package

In 1994 the Miata got its first significant upgrade. The 1.8 liter engine replaced the 1.6-liter engine and the new engine now produced 131 horsepower, 15 horsepower more than the previous model. The 1994 model weighed about the same as the 1990 model but was much faster.

1999 10th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata

Anniversary editions for most cars are only a few additional graphics or badges. However, the 10th anniversary edition of the MX-5 Miata added much more than that. At the time in 1999 it was the only 6-speed manual transmission in the Miata line as opposed to the regular 5-speed edition. Other unique features on the 10th Anniversary edition included Bilstein shocks and Alcantara inserts in two tone seats.

2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata

This is the most powerful Miata ever produced with its 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produced 178 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. However, claiming that the Mazdaspeed was the best Miata ever just on power alone isn’t necessarily true because the MX-5 was never only about power.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Even though we only briefly drove the new MX-5, it left us with an amazing impression. Weighing in at 2,332 pounds the MX-5 squeezes every ounce of power from its 155 horsepower 2.0-liter engine. Initial instruments tests done so fat have indicated that the 2016 MX-5 Miata is the fastest Miata ever made.

Even though the new 2016 Miata might be faster, the 2nd generation Miata had something very cool with its turbo engine and the upgrades to suit. Throughout the past 10 years it remains the coolest MX-5 Miata ever made.
