Second Consecutive Year For Prestigious Award

Many automakers win awards for individual vehicles that stand out for one reason or another from year to year, but to win an award for the best overall lineup of vehicles is really quite spectacular. U.S. News and World Report has named Mazda as the “Best Car Brand” for the second year in a row, proving that Mazda delivers cars and SUVs that excel in design, performance and efficiency. “We are honored, once again, to be named the Best Car Brand by U.S. News and World Report,” Mazda CEO Masahiro Moro said. “We’re passionate about raising the bar on everything a car should be and will continue to deliver exceptional design, features and performance that make Mazda cars the go-to choice for those passionate about the details of what makes a car desirable to own and drive.” You can see just how special the Mazda inventory is by taking a test drive at Chapman Mazda on Bell Road.

U.S. News Rankings Score Mazda High

U.S. News and World Report ranked the entire Mazda brand very high in the fields of design, technology and comfort. For example, the compact Mazda3 scored high because of its superb handling, high quality interior and easy-to-use infotainment system. It also didn’t hurt that the little Mazda3 gets an almost hybrid-like 37 mpg on the highway without the high initial expense. The Mazda6 also got spectacular ratings for its superior driving dynamics, excellent fuel economy (35 mpg highway) and an upscale, comfortable cabin. The sporty Mazda MX-5 Miata was the top-rated sports car thanks to its impressive handling, sport-like manual transmission and precise braking. U.S. News called it “one of the sportiest and most fun to drive cars available on the market.”

Mazda Also Most Efficient Automaker

Along with the award for “Best Car Brand,” Mazda also won another important award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA declared Mazda as the most “fuel-efficient” automaker for the fourth consecutive year. Mazda’s fleet-wide adjusted fuel economy figure is 29.6 mpg without a hybrid or electric vehicle in the lineup. “Mazda’s team of engineers and designers have worked diligently to create vehicles that are high-quality, stylish, fun-to-drive and fuel-efficient,” Moro said. “Using our unique SKYACTIV Technology, Mazda has been able to achieve class-leading fuel efficiency in nearly every segment it competes in while remaining true to its core mission that Driving Matters.” Whether you choose a MX-5 Miata or the CX-9 SUV at Chapman Mazda on Bell Road, you’ll get a vehicle that’s fun to drive, offers superior comfort and delivers excellent fuel efficiency.

Designers Let Imagination Run Wild

With the latest generation Mazda Miata already available at Chapman Mazda and the RF retractable fastback coming to the showroom early next year, the designers at Mazda had a little time on their hands to let their hair down and create something special for the recent SEMA auto show. The result was two concept vehicles that take the Miata to another level. The MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution hearkens back to the era of the 1950s open air roadster, weighing just a smidge over 2,000 pounds with a design that’s sure to bring a smile to classic car lovers. “With MX-5 Speedster Evolution, our goal was to further deliver the essence of what MX-5 has represented for the past 27 years–lightweight engineering and pure driving joy,” according to Mazda Design Manager Ken Saward. “In the future, we might see if there is anywhere else we could take out weight.”

The Mazda MX-5 RF Kuro takes many of the attributes of the MX-5 Global Cup racecar and adapts them for street driving. An adjustable suspension, dual piston front-brake calipers and a Satin Black Metallic paint job all scream “stealthy racer” in a vehicle that’s very well-suited for fun weekend drives. “We wanted to give MX-5 RF Kuro a stealth look to complement its sleek profile, providing subtlety and purpose,” Saward said. “As we move our brand in a direction we call ‘Mazda Premium,’ we want to embrace our longstanding motorsports heritage and reach forward with breathtaking designs like the MX-5 RF.”

Miata Takes Glass and Steel to Emotional Level

Buyers who take a first look at the new generation Mazda MX-5 Miata are forgiven if they get a little emotional. By using the Kodo – Soul of Motion design principle, Mazda designers have created a sports car that invokes a physical and psychological response from many people. A beautiful vehicle from any angle, industry reviewers consistently call the new Miata the best sports car available for the money. Starting in the mid-$20,000 range, the Miata is an affordable way to get the wind in your hair and forget all your troubles.

Three Trim Packages Available

When you stop in at your Phoenix Mazda dealer, Chapman Mazda, to take a look at the Miata inventory, you’ll have three trim packages from which to choose. The Sport delivers as much fun as the higher price model, but lacks a few premium features. It still has LED headlights, daytime running lights, power mirrors, air conditioning and a great audio system. Choose the Club and you get the Mazda Connect infotainment system, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and some upgraded trim. Choose the Grand Touring package if you want navigation and some other high-end amenities.
